Buy your travel insurance with vouchers - Every little helps!

Along with your sunscreen and bikini, you can pick up a Tesco Travel Insurance pack for a single trip to Europe in larger stores and selected Metro outlets.

You'll save money if you buy online or by phone with a guaranteed 15% discount for Clubcard holders.

Even without a Clubcard, you get 10% off.

In Store

Destination choice is limited to 1 or 2 weeks' cover for Europe. Only main Tesco Clubcard holders aged 18-64 can buy. If you turn 65 during the trip, you're still covered.

Check the Read Before You Buy leaflet to make sure the insurance meets your needs.

Standard Policy

All travellers on the policy must be free of any pre-existing medical conditions (eg asthma, diabetes).

You'll be asked for your trip start date at the till. The standard Policy Booklet is inside the pack. Cancellation cover starts from purchase date. You can buy up to 6 months before you go. No winter sports option.

Save £££s by using your Tesco vouchers to pay.

Online or By Phone

Single travellers, couples, families and groups can buy cover for longer stays and worldwide destinations.

Choose from Tesco Value, Standard or Finest cover levels. Finest notched up a 5* rating from Defaqto in 2013.

Remember to give your Clubcard number to get the discount.

Cover Options

  • Single Trip - 31 days (no age limit by phone).
  • Annual Multi-Trip - 31 days (under age 75).
  • Winter sports - 17 days (under age 65).

Standard and Finest policies offer optional cover for winter sports, golf and weddings for an extra premium.

No winter sports option or cover for valuables, missed departure, airline failure, personal accident or natural disasters with the no-frills Value policy.

Cut the cost of your premium on Standard or Finest by doubling the excess.

Age Limits

  • In store - under 64 years of age.
  • Online - under 74 years of age.
  • By phone - no max. age limit but strict health conditions apply.
  • Winter sports - not available to over 65s.

Regardless of where you buy, you must be at least 18 and registered with a GP for a minimum of 6 months.

If you're aged 75 or over, you're not eligible for Tesco annual insurance. You might get cover for single trip insurance, but you need to phone them on 0845 293 9474.

If under 65, you can extend any one trip on an annual multi-trip travel policy to 45 or 60 days, and a single trip stay to 90 days, both for an extra premium.

Pre-Existing Health Conditions

Till bought Tesco Travel Insurance packs exclude everyone with health problems, no matter how minor, even mild asthma.

If you buy over the phone or online, you'll need to answer questions not just about your own health, but people travelling with you.

Heart disease, stroke, TIA (transient ischemic attack), blood clots and any breathing or circulatory conditions must all be disclosed, so too any psychiatric or psychological illness, including dementia.

Be honest, even if a hospital stay for pneumonia was as long ago as 10 years. Also disclose if anyone has been on prescribed medication in the last 5 years.

Tesco policies will usually cover stable conditions (eg high blood pressure) if medication hasn't changed in the last 12 months.

If a close relative or business partner is poorly, their illness could shorten or cause you to cancel the trip and their insurer needs to know details in order to assess the risk.

If you travel to Europe, remember to take your EHIC card. There's no excess to pay if you use it for medical expenses.

Tesco Clubcard

Every time you use your card in store, online or at the pump you collect points which are turned into Clubcard vouchers.

  • 1 penny = 1point, so 150 points = a £1.50 voucher.

You get 4x the voucher value when you use them for Clubcard rewards on treats like days out, holidays, train tickets, hotels, restaurants, flights and P&O cruises.

E.ON customers can redeem Tesco Clubcard vouchers against energy bills. You can exchange them for Virgin Atlantic flying club miles, too.

No points for travel money but if you order £500 or more foreign currency, there's free next day delivery.

Tesco Credit Card

Collect Clubcard points wherever you buy, with no cash advance fee on travel money. You get 1 point for every £4 spent, plus exclusive money saving offers.
