Pre-existing medical conditions

Co-operative Travel covers all pre-existing medical conditions for holidays in the UK if not travelling against doctor's advice.

For holidays abroad, most common conditions are covered as long as your health is stable with no recent blips.

Among the conditions included are high blood pressure, asthma, diabetes, Crohn's disease, arthritis, high cholesterol, irritable bowel syndrome and Parkinson's Disease.

If you have two or more conditions you need to call the Medical Helpline.

Conditions requiring supplementary oxygen aren't necessarily excluded, though it's likely you'll pay extra.

Epilepsy also considered, depending on when your last seizure was, duration and medication needed.

If your pre-existing medical condition means you have to take medication on the flight, you'll need to provide a doctor's note.

If you have reduced mobility the Co-op's disability awareness team can tailor travel arrangements around special needs (eg hydraulic lift assistance to get you on the plane).

Specialist advisors are in over 40 stores nationwide, or call the designated disability awareness team on 0845 266 9228.

Visit the Co-op Travel website for a handy tool to translate phrases such as 'I'm allergic to peanuts' or 'I can't walk up and down steps, is there a ramp available?'
